About Kashmir

Kashmir is not just a destination — it is a feeling that stays with you. The mirror-still waters of Dal Lake at sunrise, the snowfields of Gulmarg glittering in the winter light, the saffron fields of Pampore, the wooden houseboats rocking gently at dusk. Kashmir is India's most beautiful valley, and it is more accessible than ever.

For travellers from South India, the valley is a revelation — the architecture, the food (the wazwan is a multi-course feast), and the cool mountain air feel like a completely different country. Summers (April–October) offer the famous flower gardens and river rafting; winters bring some of Asia's best ski slopes.

FAQs

Common questions about Kashmir

Is Kashmir safe to visit? +
Yes. Kashmir has seen millions of tourists in recent years without incident. The main tourist areas (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg) are well-secured and welcoming. We monitor the situation continuously and will notify you of any changes.
What is the best way to travel within Kashmir? +
We arrange a dedicated vehicle and driver for the entire trip — this is both the most comfortable and the most practical approach given the mountain roads. Public transport within the valley is limited.
What is a shikara ride? +
A shikara is a small wooden boat unique to Dal Lake — think of it as a floating taxi. You can hire one for a sunset cruise, to visit the floating vegetable market, or to reach the mid-lake gardens. It's one of the most magical experiences in India.
When is the best time to see tulip gardens? +
The Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden in Srinagar blooms in late March – early April. It's Asia's largest tulip garden, with 1.5 million tulips in a single hillside. Plan a late-March trip to catch the peak bloom.

What travellers say about Kashmir

JUNE 2025

"The houseboat on Dal Lake was the most romantic night of our lives. Woke up to mist on the water and a breakfast served by shikara. Kashmir is magical — thank you TripAtGo for making it stress-free."
